Scheduling Domain Name Server Lookup

The domain name server lookup is a separate process from the ILux server process. It has a lower priority than the ILux server application so that running reports has priority. It can be run as a service on Windows NT or as an application on Unix and Windows 95.

To add or modify the Domain Name Server (DNS) lookup schedule:

  1. Choose View, DNS Lookup Schedule.
  2. The first time during an ILux client session you select this command (or other related commands), the Server Password dialog box appears. You must enter a user name and password. Enter the Domain Source Name (DSN) user name and password used when the source name was created. Click OK.
  3. The DNS Lookup Schedule dialog box appears. The name of the current DNS Lookup Schedule, if any, appears at the top of the dialog.

    modify the existing DNS lookup scheduleselect the schedule in the list box and click Modify.

    click Add New.
  5. Select the time and day of the week you want the report to run.

    Note To keep the ILux database as current as possible, daily is recommended.

  6. Enter the email address(es) of the recipient(s) to be notified when the report is completed. The email addresses must meet SMTP standards, that is, contain no spaces or illegal characters. Each email address must be separated by a comma.
  7. Click Close.
