Requesting or Modifying a Scheduled Alert

When you request an alert, you can specify that ILux either run a report or, in ILux , execute a command. To execute a command, see Using Alerts to Execute Commands.

To schedule or modify an alert that runs a report:

  1. Select Tools, Alert. The Alert dialog box appears. A list of existing Alerts appears in the top of the dialog.
  2. To modify an existing alert, select it in the list box at the top of the dialog. Make the necessary changes as described below.
  3. Select the type of alert you would like to generate. Depending on the alert type you select, the fields below changes.
  4. Enter the appropriate value for the field below the alert type. An example is given for you.
  5. To request an email when the report is run, enter the email address of the recipient(s) to be notified when the specified event occurs. The email addresses must meet SMTP standards, that is, contain no spaces or illegal characters. Each email address must be separated by a comma.
  6. To request a report, click the Run Report radio button.
  7. To execute a command, see Using Alerts to Execute Commands.
  8. Optionally, to override the existing filter, select another filter from the filter drop-down list box, or create a new, temporary filter by clicking Temporary Filter. The Create Filter dialog box appears.
  9. Optionally, select another stylesheet from the stylesheet drop-down list box if desired.
  10. Optionally, select the language you want used to produce the report.
  11. Optionally, enter the Output Directory path to which you want the reports written. The default is a location relative to the root directory on the web server. (Use the View, Web Server Parameters command to view the default location.) For more information, see Modifying the Report Output Directory.
  12. Click Add New or, if you changed an existing alert, Save Changes.

To remove an alert:

Select the alert in the list box at the top of the dialog. Click Remove.
